Mardoqueo Arteaga is an economist at Meta, where he brings rigorous economic methods to bear on strategic business questions. He is also a contributor for The Honest Economist, where he writes about the effects of AI on the economy, macroeconomic trends, and labor market dynamics.
Before Meta, he worked at LinkedIn supporting major enterprise clients, at KPMG working on economic valuation services, and as an associate researcher at the Central Bank of Chile. Mardoqueo received his PhD in Economics, specialty in belief formation, from Fordham University.
His academic research spans work on credit market expectations, monetary policy communication, and household sentiment analysis using machine learning and econometric techniques. He is also interested in the impacts of AI on e-commerce and advertising, regulatory and policy evaluation, and information theory.
Outside of work, his interests include creative writing, category theory, and history of economic thought (for which he developed the Econograph), phenomenology, and stoicism. He is also passionate about animal rescue, cultural travel, fitness, musical theater, and open-world games.
